Alamance Detention Center Overview

Alamance County Detention Center is operated by the Alamance County Sheriff's Office in Graham. The sheriff's detention page says the facility serves people charged with or convicted of criminal or civil offenses. For practical inmate lookup, that means pretrial defendants, short local sentences, probation or parole matters, court holds, warrant arrests, transfers, and other agency holds may all appear in the same local custody system. The facility is also listed by ICE, so some people housed there may be in immigration custody rather than ordinary county criminal custody.

The public-facing facility name covers a three-building jail operation. The sheriff's page states that a 240-bed detention center was constructed in 2006 and opened in 2007. That building, plus 156 beds in the original detention facility and 80 beds in the Annex, increased total beds to 476. The NC Jail Administrators directory uses a Main and Annex split, listing 396 Main beds and 80 Annex beds. The public should treat the facility as one detention center unless jail staff give more specific building instructions for visits, records, or custody questions.

The county page is the most reliable source for facility identity, but roster details still come from the separate P2C inmate inquiry.

Alamance Detention Center Capacity

The facility's headline capacity is 476 total beds. That number is supported by the sheriff's public detention page and the NC Jail Administrators directory split of 396 Main plus 80 Annex. A roster inspection on June 23, 2026 returned 357 current P2C records. That is a snapshot, not an average daily population or a live census guarantee. Alamance Stepping Up reported an average daily jail population of 349 in its December 2022 report, while Vera reported a typical jail population of 312 people in 2021.

Search Detention Center Inmates

Current Alamance County Detention Center inmates are searched through the Alamance P2C Inmate Inquiry. The roster is current-custody focused and free to use. Enter a last name first, add a first name when needed, and use Filter Inmate List for fields such as race, sex, age, primary charge, arrest date, and booking agency. If the person has been sentenced to state prison, use NCDAC instead. If the person is federal or immigration custody, use BOP or ICE.

2. Search by last name and first name, or broaden the spelling if no row appears.
3. Review the name, primary charge, arrest date, and booking agency.
4. Select the row to attempt the detail record.
5. Call 336-570-6317 if the booking is recent, the spelling may differ, or an ICE detainee may be housed at the facility.

The sheriff's 2024 app announcement also says the Alamance County Sheriff NC app includes Inmate Search and Inmate Information. The app is a mobile access path, not an official replacement for direct jail confirmation.

Alamance Jail Address

Use the public jail address for facility business unless jail staff tell a visitor or requester to use the Annex. The NC Jail Administrators directory lists the Annex at 315 Prison Camp Road, Graham, but the sheriff's public detention page presents the detention center public address at South Maple Street. Call first for entry instructions, current visitation rules, or a custody question.

ICE Detainees at Alamance

ICE lists Alamance County Detention Center as a detention facility under the Atlanta Field Office. The same physical county jail can therefore appear in county-jail and immigration-detention searches. ICE's indexed facility content says people seeking information about a detainee housed there may call 336-570-6317 and that someone is available 24 hours a day. ICE ODLS remains the federal locator for immigration detainees.

County roster results and ICE locator results can overlap physically, but they answer different legal-status questions.

Visiting Alamance Detention Center

The sheriff's local pages reviewed did not publish a public visitation schedule, video vendor, dress code, child-visitor rules, public visit length, or mail format. That means a responsible visit plan starts with a call to the detention center. Bring government-issued photo identification and ask which entrance to use. The jail, sheriff's office, clerk, magistrates, and criminal courthouse functions are concentrated in Graham, so court days may affect traffic and parking.

Mail, Commissary, and Money

Official local mail rules were not located in the reviewed sheriff pages. Call the jail before sending letters, books, photos, publications, or money orders. Do not assume that state-prison mail rules, NCDAC tablet rules, or another county's vendor rules apply to Alamance County Detention Center. The main public destination is 109 S. Maple Street in Graham, near county court functions. From I-40/I-85, use the Graham exits serving NC 87/Main Street or the downtown Graham route, then proceed toward the courthouse and sheriff's office area. From Burlington, Mebane, and other local municipalities, head toward downtown Graham and the courthouse district before using South Maple Street for the sheriff and jail campus.

Official pages reviewed did not publish visitor parking rates, a dedicated visitor lot, bus route numbers, or locker rules. Confirm parking, visitor entrance, and item restrictions before arrival.
